I realized at an early age that I was born to create. I knew the world of art was my passion and I've stayed true to that vision throughout my life.
Majoring in Commercial Art at the University of Oregon I learned the importance of composition, design and color.
Techniques included sculpture creations in stone and paper mache, printmaking, pen and ink/watercolor on paper and acrylic paint on canvas.
In 1985 I formed my own business called Daniel Designs in San Diego, specializing in faux finish painting, glazing, trompe l'oeil, design and production of signage and mural work. Commission projects included a 40 ft. "Matisse style" gold leaf mural at the Hotel del Coronado's Prince of Wales Restaurant plus ceiling and wall design restoration work in the La Jolla Taj Mahal residence and ceiling and wall design restoration in the Amy Strong Castle in Ramona, California.
I worked as a painter for the San Diego Convention Center Corp. for 15 years which entailed office remodels, signage work, designs/fabrication of displays for various holiday events and three murals within the building. My design and execution of a 100ft. mural entitled "Just another Day in Paradise" is on display in the hallway leading to the Administration offices.
Since retiring in 2015, I have focused my energy on creating fine art paintings, selling originals and limited edition prints. Producing my own prints enables me to ensure the quality of each piece. I have received many awards for my art in juried exhibits.
On the California Central Coast I have displayed my art in the Studios in the park Paso Robles Art Association gallery, Paso Robles City Library, Sculpterra Winery, Odyssey Cafe, Mid-State Fair and the Morro Bay Art Association. I have a presence on social media with a page on Facebook, Instagram and this website.
